Current Wedding Ring Fashions for Your Cutting-edge Wedding

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Tungsten rings, tungsten wedding bands, and of course tungsten carbide ring styles are quickly becoming the elite piece of jewelry to own and for good reason.

Tungsten carbide, a composite of tungsten and carbon combined in powder form and heated to perfection, is an extremely hard metal. A tungsten wedding band is actually more than 5 times harder than steel. Also, a tungsten wedding ring is heavy and has a nice quality feel, which makes wearing it very enjoyable.

This leads us to discuss the other components of the tungsten carbide wedding ring; it’s the special process of joining tungsten with carbon that gives these incredible rings their impressive strength and high shine.Tungsten wedding bands are quickly becoming the most popular wedding rings to buy. A tungsten carbide wedding band is always shiny and stays polished.

Cobalt is a reactive, corrosive metal that can severely irritate the skin and should be avoided. After wearing any item containing cobalt a short period of time, the oils in your skin will cause the cobalt in the ring to oxidize which, aside from permanently ruining the ring, can give wearers a painful and scarring reaction. Your tungsten ring should not contain cobalt. The best quality tungsten carbide wedding bands are 100% cobalt free, which means that no cobalt is used as a binder metal when forming the ring; instead, a negligible amount of nickel and other metals will be used. Choose a good retailer to be certain you can shop with the assurance that all of our tungsten carbide products from the plain tungsten to black tungsten ring styles are completely safe!

Tungsten wedding rings and tungsten wedding bands are quickly becoming the elite piece of jewelry to own and for good reason. When we thought of wedding bands and wedding rings we once considered a gold band as our only option. That’s definitely not the situation in today’s wedding rings market as tungsten rings are gaining in popularity more and more every day.

Should we have Primark Online or not?

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

“Get Primark online …” If one demand came out of a long conversation I enjoyed with some friends last night, that was it!

And why isn’t online? Well the retailer, which came to life as Penneys in 1969, has founded its success on taking over major empty stores in city and town centres and giving the vying public cheap disposable fashion in an instant. Once a style has been seen on the catwalks, it takes just six weeks to reach the stores and into the shopping bags of millions of women across Britain for next to nothing.

For now, Primark Online is a pretty basic website, with a few store details and the briefest of looks at some of their latest ranges. Why hasn’t High Street giant Primark taken the lead of rivals like Topshop and New Look and upgraded its simple website into a fully-featured online shopping destination? Could it be they believe their clothes to be so keenly priced already that it would be impractical to expect shoppers to pay extras like post and packing? These charges could undoubtedly double the total for some lower cost fashion items, meaning existing customers would simply stick to visiting the store or worse still, just walk away altogether.

Coming out of the longest recession since the 1930s as we are, Primark – with thousands of employees UK and Europe wide – may also be concerned to maintain their good reputation as ‘The People’s Shop’. Relying largely on word of mouth advertising and a low marketing budget, Primark could also experience falling sales if it simply signed up for the online revolution without due caution. Current economic constraints are showing that even more, internet shops are giving traditional fashion businesses a run for their money. Now this trend is reaching right back to manufacturers, who are also showing concerns about the entire structure of retail markets. Shops have been closing their doors all over the UK and with such major players as Woolworths gone for ever, empty spaces are only too apparent all over our once vibrant High Streets. Against this backdrop, a move to Primark Online might be a backward step, even set against shoppers’ seemingly insatiable demand for all things online – including those hot, up-to-date fashion items.

Putting the store online would give us instant access to cheap affordable clothes that mimic the designer trends, but wouldn’t that spoil the fun?

The case for putting Primark online isn’t so strong and after all don’t we all love walking in there and grabbing the latest must-haves that sell-out within hours? I sure do.

Miss High Street is a high street fashio comparison and interative fashion inspiration community! Celebrities who have ventured into fashion

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

Does the latest slew of celebrities launching their own labels have the credentials to dictate to us our wardrobe? There has now been a decade of label and clothing launches by prominent actors, singers and sports stars, with success to varying degrees. But do they have the right to be called designers?

One of the more successful graduates of design school is Victoria Beckham. Although fashionistas initially shrugged off her designs, last year many ate their words when she launched her latest collection to a swathe of positivity, with celebrity endorsements including Gwyneth Paltrow. Her label is one of the few celebrity ones to garner praise from the people who really matter in the fashion world.

Fashion is also on the CV of Victoria’s famous friend Jennifer Lopez. In 2001 she launched her own JLO line with styles inspired by the lady herself. Then in 2004 Beyonc and her mother, Tina Knowles, did the same with House of Dereon, a top end clothing line. Later came a collaboration with her sister for the cheaper alternative aimed at teenagers. Dereon comes from her grandmother Agnez Dereon who was a talented seamstress and dressmaker.

Surprisingly opting for the lower end of the market, Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress who played Sex in the City’s fashion-obsessed Carrie Bradshaw, has put her name to an affordable clothing line. Bitten, available at Steve & Barry’s stores, mixes Parker’s love of fashion, without the trendy price tag. Available in sizes 2 through 22, each piece costs less than $20 (the tag line is: “Fashion is not a luxury”).

Male celebrities have almost led the way for women. Jay-Z was one of the first celebrities to launch ‘Rocawear’ in 1999 and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs brought out the Sean John Line not long after. Justin Timberlake even got in on the act in 2005 when he teamed up with a friend to launch William Rast clothing.

These ladies dresses are irresistible.

Fashion in American Psycho

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

As a book and as a movie American Psycho was something of a phenomenon. After a great deal of Hollywood shenanigans it was eventually Christian Bale that was chosen to play the role of the main character – a high powered businessman and sociopath with possible killer instincts. Bale apparently used the real life Tom Cruise as his template for the overtly friendly but strangely vacant Bateman, but the look of the character was long since decided. He was everything that an 80s yuppie was supposed to aspire to be.

The main character – Bateman – and his surrounding clique are Yuppies. This is a term coined by advertising executives in the 80s to denote ‘Young Upwardly Mobile Professional Person.’ It has certain scornful connotations now that weren’t exactly lost on the people that invented the label either. This yuppie crowd covet designer brands to an extent where the actual qualities of the clothes fall behind the name in terms of importance. Taste is everything, while at the same time taste is determined by what the latest advertising trends denote, rather than true individuality.

But what is the exact look. Well, as a businessman in the eighties there’s a lot of designer wear in there, as you’d expect. Armani is used extensively. It was movies in the eighties that took Armani all the way to the top of the ladder, with American Gigolo showing their suits as the height of taste, while in American Psycho they epitomise the rich snobbery of the workplace. As accessories to this you see large rimmed Gucci glasses, which look embarrassing these days, and shameless gold Rolex watches.

Cosmetics for men play a major part. The intro to the film has Bateman going through his morning routine including body scrubs, face packs and moisturisers. The concept of using masks and hiding yourself is a theme throughout the film but it also shows areal 80s newfound attention to male beauty care.

This movie is a brilliant way of showing how arbitrary much of fashion is, and how shallow it can be to claim superiority of taste over other people to an extent where only one way is the right way.

Keep up with the latest mens clothing, just don’t take it too seriously!

Avant-garde fashion trends for men this season

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Men’s fashion does not change as quickly as women’s fashion, however, this year a lot of new trends appeared on the catwalks at the ‘Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week Spring 2011′. Nothing more risqu than a few adaptations of cuts and styles was expected. But the newly emerged trends were surprising and rather unusual. Let’s take a look at the more avant-garde trends for men this season.

The crop top, normally worn by the likes of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, rather than on a tall strapping man, featured as part of the Calvin Klein line-up. The collection of Speedos and crop tops, raised a few eyebrows, with lots of flaunted skin exposed, and washboard abs on display as well as. This is one trend I don’t expect to be a big hit with the men this season!

Emporio Armani gives us the monokini as part of its spring collection, this year. The monokini is similar to a leotard, an-all-in-one, but with the sides cut away to reveal most of the chest. The men’s version adopts the style of a racer back vest and leaves a lot more skin exposed. Again this design is an adaptation of the all-in-one-suit which; is favoured by women.

Emporio Armani featured another strange trend, Meggings, in his 2011 spring collection.
Leggings are a hybrid combination of the legging and denim for men and were paired with various printed shorts. The migration of themes from women’s fashion to men’s, does not is very strong this season. Male models displayed a range of sexy, sheer, and lace shirts on the runway at Etro spring 2011.

The themes borrowed from the feminine fashion trends were also evident in the line-up for the D&G 2011 men’s spring collection. The men strutted down the runway in floral print shirts and shorts. I can’t see how these unusual trends would take off. And I would be suitably shocked to see a man walk down the road in any of the ensembles mentioned above.

Make sure you’ve got a perfect pair of mens jeans in your wardrobe this season.
