The Most Easy Ways Of Getting Rid Of Blackheads

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Most people have experienced a problem with acne at some point in their life. For some people, the acne does not disappear after their teen years. Some of these people are plagued by pimples, but more have issues with blackheads. Getting rid of blackheads for good can be accomplished, if you have a little patience and some important information.

Blackheads are caused by debris that builds up inside a pore and can’t get out. This debris is mostly made up of dead skin cells that are not being shed out onto the surface as they should be. Oil builds up in the pore because it is blocked by the dead skin cells, and the oil turns dark and hardens with exposure to air.

Many people effect a ‘steamroller’ type of treatment. But treating blackheads with forceful methods usually only causes irritation, which can increase the number and severity of blemishes. Instead, start small. Use warm water and no soap (facial washes are okay) to clean your face no less than once and no more than twice a day. Washing more often creates irritation, as does rubbing dry, so be sure to pat only.

Replace your facial wash with a specialized acne face wash if you don’t see results. Make sure that you don’t use it more often than directed by the bottle, as these washes can create especially bad irritation if overused. Other things that come into contact with your skin can also cause blemishes, so consider switching makeup brands or moisturizers, and make sure to always take off your makeup at night.

To remove a blackhead by squeezing, make sure that your hands and your face are clean. Then scrub lightly with your fingers to remove dead skin cells on the surface. Soften the skin by covering it with a warm, wet cloth for several minutes. Then use even pressure, tissues on your fingers, and be sure to squeeze from both sides in order to remove the blackhead.

If you’ve only removed the blackhead by squeezing, and done nothing else, it will come back. Maintaining proper facial skin care is important not only before removing a blackhead, but also after. You can try to tighten the pores with lemon juice after removing a blackhead, as the acid is supposed to constrict the follicle and prevent the re-entry of debris.

No treatment is as effective as prevention can be. Avoiding allowing things that clog the pores to stay on your skin is your best bet, so make sure to always wash your face if it gets dirty or sweaty. Consider wearing less makeup if using a different brand doesn’t work. And wash regularly with the right type of facial wash, not too rarely and not too often.

Improving your skin condition with your general body condition is also possible. Everything from your lack of sleep to a drug habit can have an effect on the condition of your skin, and eating right, exercising, and quitting smoking are also good ways to clear up your face. Getting rid of blackheads is always easier if you are healthier.
