Rock Music and Fashions

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Where I’d been born the thought of glam rock and dressing up in feminine fashions was not too well received in the 70s it is different now with glam rock artists such as Lady Gaga, Meadow Zero and the Semi precious weapons but a while ago before glam fashions were seen one the street it was tough. . The north of great Britain is home to numerous gangs and even back in the 1970s there has been gangs where lack of employment and drug use festered a violent environment that would only get worse in 2010. Pertaining to a family directly into glam good ole’ fashions men connected with female is actually would have been a hazardous enterprise jogging regarding within high heel shoes and glitter foundation. The simple truth is you actually needed to be courageous compared to gangs to walk regarding such as some sort of glam rock star because you were just trying for a violent confrontation in the environment of sexual suppression and ignorant attitudes at the moment.

I first observed glam rock and roll celebrities similar to David Bowie and T Rex such as the particular songs like Rebel Rebel, John I am only dancing, that we wore out twice on my parents’ record-player. My personal class at high school, when it comes to pop sensibility was separated as follows: the boys were being supporters of either Roxy Music The Sweet, and the girls all adored Marc Bolan and glam rock. The latter ended up being dismissed because of the guys as ‘a poof’ despite the fact that Steve Priest, bass-player of The Sweet appeared to be clearly as glam rock & camp as anyone in this area. But this individual became a complete a celebrity. Therefore We listened to my T Rex information in private, certainly not letting on to any kind of my class-mates pertaining to my new obsession glam rock, fearing that I in turn would be instantly labeled as ‘a poof’. My own up coming important breakthrough was glam rock and roll and Roxy Music’s first album. The inside sleeve functions glam style photos regarding the actual music group appearing like Science Fiction movie-stars, also it ended up being this which first provoked the thought in me: ‘I wish to appear to be a glam rock star.

My personal glam rock and roll lifestyle started because I started to badger my mom for several clothing: I wanted platform shoes, I wanted flares, shirts with wild, aerospace collars and, above all, long hair. It required quite some time to be able to acquire my personal “glam rock look’ collectively but finally, with about the age of 18, I was able to look in the mirror with some amount of satisfaction. I quickly realized in which, within a new place for instance Dundee, dressing in this particular glam rock and roll trend approach would be asking for abuse and it soon came along. It was mainly mental combined with being jostled or shoulder-barged on the street. i had been quickly to educate yourself the danger’s associated with outfitting being a glam rock superstar in the 1970′s.

The 1st work of individual assault after me did not happen extended later. I walked the distance coming from a shuttle bus stop on the way household from the glam rock event by a new band in town. We had been becoming screamed at simply by about thirty kids from down the street, soon these people arrived asking for after me wanting blood. I was trapped along with experimented with to help explanation saying it absolutely was simply a manner issue and all the girls dug it. Unfortunately this made them even more angry as I suppose these were not so popular with the opposite sex as at the time glam rock guys were getting all the dates and best looking women.

I made it out alive with a few torn clothes and a missing platform boot. A small price to pay on reflection as if it were today I am sure there would have been a much more violent response. I did get a black eye and a few bruises but what really hurt is the wounded pride and loss of personal freedom to express yourself after such an encounter. I still wore glam rock fashions but was cautious where to go and be seen in such outfits. it all seemed so simple for the glam rock stats on my TV, they lived their lives (it seemed) dressing up every day in glam rock clothes and never having a care in the world. In truth I was too young to know about marketing, hype and that they were just kids themselves many manipulates to look a certain way just to make money as a glam rock star.

Exactly what Dress Type Suits To the Distinct Figure

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

What dress type would work for your specific physique? Many diminutive and statuesque women have found themselves inside a tight bind deciding on the perfect outfit that flatters their particular frame-but if push relates to fashion shove, the tiny black dress definitely wins. Probably the most versatile dress staple well known around the world due to the sheer sensuality and timeless appeal. By far the most iconic black dresseswere first etched into fashion stratosphere and cross-cultural psyche since Audrey Hepburn walked the streets of recent York in a piece created by Hubert de Givenchy. These days, all women — no matter what frame — can relive the glamour of Breakfast at Tiffany’s that complements her individual form.

Dresses generally speaking are very important and germane to each and every woman’s wardrobe. LBDs cut across body type boundaries since they chameleon into many stages of lady-like appeal, which brings evening dresses to a entirely new level.

On the subject of the LBD, petites have to steer clear of dizzying embellishments and appliqus that could overwhelm their delicate frame. However, petite gals do not need to are satisfied with a LBD in plain and solid black alone-light detailing like ruching or ruffles is often romantic and fun without having to be drab and cumbersome. For making an illusion of height, dainty women can pick a little black dress with subtle vertical lines.

Conversely, louder prints and bolder patterns could be achieved by tall ladies. Vertical accents with a LBD can further elongate a good body, while horizontal detailing can enhance a boxy or boyish body type over a tall woman. Tall and slim ladies may seem like ideal mannequins for just about any method of fashion apparel-but when it comes to the limited black dress, size-or length, to become exact-matters. A 1 to 2-inch hemline below or over the knees will be the rule of thumb-otherwise, people will think someone’s missing their trousers, however model-like their height is.

For top level LBD for just about any frame, rainbow clothing store is where to search.

Should we have Primark Online or not?

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

“Get Primark online …” If one demand came out of a long conversation I enjoyed with some friends last night, that was it!

And why isn’t online? Well the retailer, which came to life as Penneys in 1969, has founded its success on taking over major empty stores in city and town centres and giving the vying public cheap disposable fashion in an instant. Once a style has been seen on the catwalks, it takes just six weeks to reach the stores and into the shopping bags of millions of women across Britain for next to nothing.

For now, Primark Online is a pretty basic website, with a few store details and the briefest of looks at some of their latest ranges. Why hasn’t High Street giant Primark taken the lead of rivals like Topshop and New Look and upgraded its simple website into a fully-featured online shopping destination? Could it be they believe their clothes to be so keenly priced already that it would be impractical to expect shoppers to pay extras like post and packing? These charges could undoubtedly double the total for some lower cost fashion items, meaning existing customers would simply stick to visiting the store or worse still, just walk away altogether.

Coming out of the longest recession since the 1930s as we are, Primark – with thousands of employees UK and Europe wide – may also be concerned to maintain their good reputation as ‘The People’s Shop’. Relying largely on word of mouth advertising and a low marketing budget, Primark could also experience falling sales if it simply signed up for the online revolution without due caution. Current economic constraints are showing that even more, internet shops are giving traditional fashion businesses a run for their money. Now this trend is reaching right back to manufacturers, who are also showing concerns about the entire structure of retail markets. Shops have been closing their doors all over the UK and with such major players as Woolworths gone for ever, empty spaces are only too apparent all over our once vibrant High Streets. Against this backdrop, a move to Primark Online might be a backward step, even set against shoppers’ seemingly insatiable demand for all things online – including those hot, up-to-date fashion items.

Putting the store online would give us instant access to cheap affordable clothes that mimic the designer trends, but wouldn’t that spoil the fun?

The case for putting Primark online isn’t so strong and after all don’t we all love walking in there and grabbing the latest must-haves that sell-out within hours? I sure do.

Second-hand clothes shopping

Monday, April 4th, 2011

Second-hand clothes shops have become places frequented by the masses rather than clothing mines for your average student and pensioner. People are slowly realising that second-hand is actually a cheap and fashionable way to buy clothes. ‘Retro’ is definitely the new cool. But how do you cut through all the rubbish stuff to find the choice items?

The first rule of thumb is, be prepared to rummage. Make sure you have a full afternoon spare. Sometimes you can hit on a bargain within in ten minutes, other times you will be searching for hours. Where to look? Charity shops are often goldmines for unwanted clothing. They pepper every high street so you won’t need to go far. It’s often an idea to go to affluent villages and towns because you know that the people throwing away their clothes probably spent a lot of money on them in the first place.

London and Brighton also house Traid (Textile and Recycling for Aid and International Development) shops, the ‘hippest charity chain in the UK’, according to Q magazine. You will have to pay for the privilege here though. Oxfam and Cancer Research can also be on the pricey end so it’s worth going to an independent charity shop. Clothes often have a distinctive smell or are stained slightly in these establishments. Don’t let that put you off. Assess the level of damage. The item might only need a good wash.

Vintage shops that actually specialise in second-hand clothing can also be worth a look. They are more expensive but you are paying for the fact that someone has sifted out the good stuff, cleaned it and put it on a rack for you. Many are stocked from the charity shops so will already have creamed off the pick of the garments.

Second-hand clothes can also be found on market stalls. Here, you’ve got the opportunity to test your negotiating skills to get the price down. A clothes swapping party is probably the easiest and cheapest way to get your hands on a new wardrobe. You don’t have to move from the comfort of your own home and you know that your friends will have clothes that you would wear. It makes complete sense!

Check out this great selection of mens coats.
