Blackhead Popping, Use These Easy Steps For Effective Blemish Extraction
March 25th, 2011 | Author: Alison SpringfieldBlackhead popping is a way of removing blackheads that works really well – but if you do not use the right technique, you can end up with the bacteria in the blackhead getting spread within your skin and this can easily cause an infection and redness to develop.
If you want blackhead popping to work well you must really cleanse your skin well before you start so that any possibility of an infection is minimised. After this use a gentle exfoliating product to give you a head start by removing a lot of the dead skin cells and begin the process of unclogging the pores. Exfoliators help to open your pores but using a steamer or wringing out a facecloth that has been soaked in hot water and applying this to your face for a few minutes will open them further. All this makes blackhead removal much easier.
Before you begin, it is important to protect your skin from possible damage by your fingernails. The easiest way to do this is to either put on a pair of lightweight surgical-type disposable gloves or cover your fingertips by winding a tissue round each. When you are ready to start, place a fingertip either side of the blemish and stretch the skin by pulling your fingertips apart. Then, push your fingertips together again, at the same time gently pressing down so that you get underneath the blemish and make it easy to pop out the contents of the blocked pore.
If the blemish will not come out easily, you need to leave it alone and preferably use an overnight treatment on the skin area before trying again. Repeatedly trying to remove stubborn blemishes is counter-productive and will just inflame the skin and cause you more problems.
After blackhead popping, it is very important to remove any bacteria from the debris you have extracted from your pores which may remain on the skin surface. The easiest way to do this is to use a simple anti-bacterial skin wipe. After this, you can either finish with a moisturiser if you have done the treatment before bed time, or you might like to apply a gentle face masque. Choose one that contains clay to help blot up any excess oil remaining and which will also soothe your skin and tighten pores.
Finally, you may want to reduce oily shine by applying a mattifier cream and possibly a concealer for any blemishes visible. Choose a concealer that is also a treatment product and which contains one of the ingredients known to help clear your skin such as benzoyl peroxide. Following the direction in this guide will ensure that your blackhead popping is successful and that you will be well on the way to regaining your clear complexion.
